This event starts in mid-February of each year and is a twenty five year old tradition. It has become one of Austin’s biggest annual events. With over 20,000 participants and thousands of onlookers it is now one of the largest marathons in the US.
The month of March
South by Southwest Festival
This convention starts in the middle of the month. This annual event is perfect for all you music lovers and film enthusiasts alike. More than 2,000 bands come from all over the world just to perform at the Austin Convention Center and over 100 other stages throughout Austin. They also host many interactive exhibitions. If you enjoy the unique musical talent, independent films and the latest in techno gadgets, then this is a must convention for you.
The month of April
Austin Food and Wine Festival
If you love to eat make sure you bring your appetite for this shindig. This is where all the renowned chefs come together to show off their culinary abilities. The festival is courtesy of FOOD & Wine Magazine, so there will be plenty of wine available to help wash down all that delicious food you will be tasting. Sorry, if you are under the age of 21 you will not be able to sample any of the wines.

Pecan Street Festival
Pecan Street is now known as Sixth Street. The Pecan Street Festival has been around for almost 40 years and is an upbeat street fair with plenty of food and live music. Musicians and Crafters come from all over the USA to show off their talents and display their arts and crafts. You can find so many different types of woodworks, painting, sculptures and handcrafted jewelry pieces. They also have plenty of small fun toy type gifts that your kids will surely love. The Pecan Street Festival also happens in Late September.
The Month of November
Formula One World Championship
The Formula One World Championship takes place at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin with Pirelli. With its 3.4 mile racing track and seating for over 120 thousand racing spectators, this place rocks.
The Month of December
Zilker Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
Come whiteness the lighting of the famous Zilker Tree which stands over 150 feet tall and displays more than 3,000 colorful lights. The double star on top of the Zilker Tree spans more than 10 feet in width. The kids will surely love all the Christmas candy and Christmas caroling. This has been a tradition in Austin, TX since 1967.
